THR: The market is not a union that ABC / Disney has been active in terms of launch of new tariffs in recent years. Why was this the right time?

The Hollywood Reporter: Katie, what is expected for the talk shows?

Sweeney: It ‘was a good time because it was the right person. When we spoke with Janice Marinelli, who leads our group of national syndication, one minute he was happy with the opportunity to show in syndication and Katie’s certainly the powerful combination of Katie and her executive producer Jeff Zucker. The other thing that is important to look Katie is all he has done in the digital domain. His enthusiasm for his enthusiasm for digital storytelling and digital is a very interesting proposal and certainly a great help for the program.

Anne Sweeney: Katie is unique. While listening to the show and describe the kind of thing that’s concerned, I was excited again. Curiously, how and how many times I took as a member of the public. I think not only its huge addition to our news department, but there is great excitement for the show’s kind of union that will be because there is no. Do not we have someone like Katie Couric, who is ready to take on the really important stories of the day or the stories that are the spirit of the time.

Obviously I like to do newsmaker interviews, and if I can help in any way to do it, I would. I love the relationships in the field and talk to people about various issues. I understand how things that happen on Capitol Hill the Americans, the impact every day. I just go out and talk to people and hear what they have to say and bring to light important issues that might attract attention. So I’m here to serve.

What’s nice is that I was in television news for 32 years and I have so many different interests and have been exposed to so many fascinating topics throughout my career, if it was when I covered the Pentagon for NBC, working on the Today Show , or even in my personal life learning of cancer research because of my husband. I think I have an experience that I hope will be carried out to inform people on a series of questions. I have so many care so much. I hope that this will lead and appeal to the public.

Couric: As with all those men who can not hold it in your pants? The situation with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dominique Strauss-Kahn. What is it about the trick pathology, neurology and psychology of a powerful man who is the pride involved is such risky behavior and reckless? For me, this conversation is something that all of SA are being discussed but I think you might face so that Time magazine has done with its coverage of why men are like pigs. That would be fun, interesting and attractive. So those are the kinds of things that interest me I think a lot of people talk.

THR: Katie, you’ve connected with new colleagues, as Christiane Amanpour, Diane Sawyer and Barbara Walters? And if so, what were those conversations like?

Couric: I think we will watch and refining. We talked this morning, Anna and I, about how people are only on information overload. I think people have the opportunity to reflect and talk about issues is important. We’re talking about a wide range of topics could be anything. I watched a documentary the other night on HBO, which was so incredibly powerful. It ‘was named as dying in Oregon, on their death with dignity, and the right of the woman profiled incredibly brave. She was 54, and reminded me much of my sister who was the age he was when she died. It ‘was all about this woman and her family was so amazing. I thought: Gee, if I had a show, I invite you to her husband and children, the documentary and then someone who felt comfortable with the law of Oregon, and have an intelligent conversation about something that people probably struggle to speak, but probably need to talk. ‘When SA serious subject that I have tried to address. Then there is much less serious problem that interests me

In the wake of the announcement of Katie Couric, which will launch a talk show for ABC in September 2012, The Hollywood Reporter has met Couric and Disney / ABC Television Group Anne Sweeney, president to discuss the format, the guests you want and how Couric ABC is the new colleagues said.

THR: There is an element of novelty and newsy this show. Knowing that doesn t repeat the new well, how do you make sense of what works in day landscape and the desire to be important?

THR: On the new front, are their specific issues are expected to focus on you become part of the new division?

Couric: Diane reached out to me a couple of weeks. It ’s Afghanistanright now, but I left a message. I spoke with Christiane and Barbara and I left a message for Cynthia McFadden. I had a pleasant conversation with Elizabeth Vargas, a former colleague at NBC. Christiane and I worked together on CNN back in the day. I have so much respect for these women, and I’m just excited to be working in a place that embraces strong women, smart

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Disney / ABC TV Group President Anne Sweeney joined Couric to discuss the talk-show, the supply of new and what his next act will be - or not - lead.

Katie Couric: Well, the ink is still wet. And sometimes serious, of course, informative and entertaining. In fact, a set of things that we hope people will be interested in. It will not be an issue again, but we’ll talk about news and issues that I think people care if it’s intimidation or technology affects our children. It could be the profile of a Navy SEAL, after Osama bin Laden has been killed, he could talk about women in the armed forces and some of the constraints they face in the back with their families.
